PLEASE NOTE: While the theoretical component of this module is free to access, there will be a cost associated in gaining your accreditation.  Upon completion of the self-paced theoretical component, enrolees will need to contact their State or Territory Association (STA) office to express interest in completing an on-green component for this module.  The STA will invoice or require payment for the module at this time.  A payment will be required to be made and an on-green component completed before the accreditation is gained.

One method of becoming a certified Bowls Marker is to complete this self-paced training, along with an on-green component to be organised through your State/Territory Association. Marker is a nationally recognised qualification issued by Bowls Australia and State/Territory Associations.

Description

This module aims to provide a basic understanding of the duties and tasks of the Marker.

The Marker is a crucial official with clearly defined duties under Law 42 of the Laws of the Sport of Bowls and Markers should have a good understanding of that law. The primary duty of the Marker is to assist players so that the game can proceed within the laws and best etiquette of the game. Marking is an ‘art’ and, like all other arts, takes time to master. A good Marker can enhance a game whilst a bad Marker can ruin a game.
