PLEASE NOTE: While the theoretical component of this module is free to access, there will be a cost associated in gaining your accreditation.  Upon completion of the self-paced theoretical component, enrolees will need to contact their State or Territory Association (STA) office to express interest in completing an on-green component for this module.  The STA will invoice or require payment for the module at this time.  A payment will be required to be made and an on-green component completed before the accreditation is gained.

One method of becoming an accredited Measurer is to complete this self-paced training module, along with an on-green component to be organised through your State/Territory Association. Measurer is a nationally recognised qualification issued by Bowls Australia through all State/Territory Associations.

Description

Measuring is a skill that is extremely important to the game of bowls. The Law Book recognises this in its references to measuring equipment and the laws associated with measuring.

Measurers and Umpires need to know the laws relevant to measuring. Measurers need to know how to use standard measuring equipment appropriately and efficiently and be able to confidently communicate the results of a measure to the players. How Measurers conduct themselves during games can have a significant influence on the way games are conducted and the atmosphere that prevails.

This module will deal with the general procedures of measuring, choosing the appropriate equipment for particular Measures and communicating decisions to players. Whilst this module refers to Measurers, the module must be completed as part of the National Umpire’s Accreditation. Many of the duties asked of an umpire are related to measuring.
